In the afternoon, I attended a meeting of African Ambassadors in Bern, hosted at the Kenya Embassy. Conveniently located just a few minutes from my office, I took a short walk to the venue.
The meeting brought together representatives from Angola, Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, Morocco, and Cameroon—with the Cameroonian Ambassador serving as Dean of the African Ambassadors. We were also joined by the Chargé d’Affaires from Nigeria and a representative from Côte d’Ivoire.
The discussions provided a valuable opportunity to share experiences since our respective appointments and to explore ways of engaging the Swiss Foreign Ministry with a unified and coordinated voice on matters of mutual interest.
The Dean emphasized the importance of maintaining cohesion and professionalism, advising that continental differences should not be carried into our diplomatic engagements in Switzerland.
During the meeting, I also highlighted ongoing engagements with ETH Zurich and its interest in strengthening collaboration with African missions.
The Kenyan Ambassador, as host, proposed the establishment of a structured communication platform to enhance coordination and information sharing among African missions in Switzerland.
This engagement reflects the importance of unity, collaboration, and strategic dialogue in advancing shared interests across the continent.
