Following our visits during the Swiss Presidential Excursion, diplomats and ambassadors were hosted at Le Montagnard for a reception featuring traditional Swiss cuisine and cultural performances.
The gathering created an excellent atmosphere for interaction, dialogue, and cultural exchange among representatives from different countries.
One aspect I found particularly interesting was the Swiss style of hosting diplomatic receptions. The standing arrangement encouraged movement and conversation, allowing participants to engage freely with many people within a short time.
During the reception, I had the pleasure of interacting with the Jamaican Ambassador, and our discussion centered on the historical and cultural connections between Ghana and Jamaica. We reflected on the enduring African influence within Caribbean societies and the importance of preserving those shared links.
I also met Nicholas Crettennan, and we discussed the possibility of organizing future visits for Ghanaian delegations to learn more about Switzerland’s hydropower systems and sustainable energy practices.
The experience highlighted how diplomacy goes beyond formal negotiations—it also thrives through relationships, cultural appreciation, and shared experiences.
