On 6th June 2026, the Ghana Society Basel (GSB) hosted H.E. Prof. Mrs. Esi Awuah, Ambassador of Ghana to Switzerland, for a community engagement in Basel aimed at strengthening unity and collaboration within the Ghanaian diaspora.
The Ambassador commended GSB’s initiative and emphasised the importance of unity, discipline, and active diaspora contribution to Ghana’s development. Discussions focused on improving coordination among Ghanaian associations, particularly addressing governance and communication challenges within the Association of Ghanaian Unions in Switzerland (AGUS).
Her Excellency highlighted the need for reforms within AGUS, including restructuring and inclusive leadership, to enhance its effectiveness as a representative body. Participants also explored practical ways to strengthen engagement between the Embassy and the Ghanaian community.
The engagement concluded with a guided cultural tour and networking session, further fostering dialogue and strengthening ties between the Embassy and the Ghanaian diaspora in Switzerland.
The event reaffirmed a shared commitment to unity, transparency, and improved collaboration among Ghanaians in Switzerland.
